Bloemfontein - The Bloemfontein High Court on Tuesday dismissed journalist Ranjeni Munusamy's application for a review of a ruling by the Hefer Commission that she must testify before it, SABC reports.
Judge Koos Malherbe in passing judgment said he was not prepared to grant Munusamy blanket protection.
He said Munusamy must appear as a witness.
Munusamy would, however, not be forced to answer questions she finds objectionable, he said.
Munusamy was initially called as a witness because she had given information to City Press newspaper suggesting Bulelani Ngcuka, the Director of Public Prosecutions, had been an apartheid spy.
The Hefer Commission is investigating this allegation, among other things.
Earlier arguments by Munusamy's lawyers before the commission focused mainly on press freedom issues.
