Malose Kekana, the CEO of the Umsobomvu Youth Development Fund, has rejected a report in a weekly newspaper that the organisation is using state assets to enrich itself and the ANC Youth League (ANCYL). Kekana says office bearers of the youth league are entering business in their private capacity.

"I think I am no different from many other business people who give money to the ANC and the ANC Youth League, and it is not just the ANC who get money from business," Kekana said. "The only thing that would be wrong would be if we enriched ourselves using the resources of the state."

The fund and the Youth League have been accused of running private businesses in violation of the principle of political impartiality. Kekana says the fund will continue to finance political organisations like the ANCYL should this be necessary.
