It has come as a shock to many South Africans, who did not expect Director of Public Prosecutions Bulelani Ngcuka's resignation. It is clear that in this country there are people who are untouchable. If one would begin to investigate them, one would be out on the street.

I remember former president Nelson Mandela's words that no one should be above the law. As long as there are corrupt elements within the ANC-led government, they can forget about winning the war against corruption. South Africans must congratulate Ngcuka for the great job he has done.

It was great to have a president like Mandela who retired with his hands clean. Is this the government we wanted when we voted for the first time in 1994?
