The
letter, Not contrite (November 22), from Jeremy Gordin is surprising, especially
that the editor of Business Day and the acting editor of the Independent News
Network are involved in a spat over who got the news of the Jacob Zuma rape
allegations first. As a reader, I just want the correct story and how “old” it
is, is really besides the point. Accuracy is paramount.
Furthermore, I
do not understand what Peter Bruce was trying to achieve in his column, The
Thick End of the Wedge (November 21). Is it a mission of his to prevent Zuma
becoming our next president?
We all realise that Zuma has now passed his
sell-by date.
His argument that there is a conspiracy against him is a
moot point as he has serious allegations against his name.
What is of
concern is that President Thabo Mbeki has shown poor leadership qualities of
late by failing to follow through successfully his decision to fire his deputy
president.
Who is next in line to become president of our country? That
is the type of information I expect to find in Bruce’s column.
