ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma's recent attack on the government's economic
and education policies leaves me with no doubt of what kind of president he
would make if elected at the December conference.
Zuma described the cost of education under Mbeki's rule as criminal.
How can one describe this matter as "criminal" when we have to deal with very
real crime in this country - from taxi violence to
corruption to muti murders?
The current economy is Zuma's other main concern, but he knows nothing about
economics.
I would rather have the economy controlled by a person who has
some understanding of how it works, someone like
President Thabo Mbeki, for example.
One may also ask, where was Zuma when policies were amended?
Why didn't he challenge the changes at the time, rather than now?
I believe that the leadership battle of the ANC can have
an alarming effect on the economy of the country.
The ANC should stand as a single movement with a common purpose. It must not
elect opportunists for leaders.
