Former defence minister Terror Lekota had reneged on a court order to stop discriminating against HIV positive soldiers, the SA Security Forces Union said on Wednesday.
SASFU president Bhekinkosi Mvovo said Lekota and his former deputy Mluleki George had been prepared to issue instructions for the army to fire live bullets on workers during the public sector strike.
"The former (South African) president (Thabo Mbeki), with Lekota, attended a presidential fleet review in the SA Navy where the former president mentioned that there was no wrongdoing or corruption in the arms deal, but today he calls for the ANC president to go to court on the same arms deal."
Lekota and George had failed to ensure job security for soldiers who worked under employment contracts of less than a year and a number of soldiers were retrenched under this system, the union said.
"As SASFU we pledge South Africans to isolate these two power hungry individuals and denounce any plans that will result [in] bloodshed and destruction of our democracy," Mvovo concluded.
Lekota was not available to comment on these allegations.
