Willem Heath wants the Zuma trial abandoned “in the public interest” ahead
of the elections (NPA must ask itself how Zuma case will help SA, February 13).
So close to the temptations of power, does he think the public wants the
incoming president more free from distraction than corruption?
He argues the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) must justify a trial. The
African National Congress made that easy when it turned Carl Niehaus's personal
tragedy of bad debt, broken promises, cover-ups, deceit, flash, fraud, favours
sold and lies told into a national horror by knowingly hiring him and hiding his
crimes. With a ruling party in moral free fall, the only quality control left in
politics is jail time.
The writer was a judge, a middle man for Brett Kebble and is now counsel for the
accused. If public interest really
motivates him, act pro bono and get his client to the
dock. That saves taxpayers millions.
