Subject: Statements by Messrs P. Moynot and E. Mary

2002-02-12

Dear Adv Fourie

Previous correspondence refers.
I note your repetitive and somewhat tiresome requests for clarification on the issue of whether we have commenced with legal action against your office in respect of the JIT Report. As I stated to you telephonically on the 7th January 2002 and reiterate again for the benefit of your records, we have not commenced such legal action. In the circumstances, I do not understand your request that I communicate with you via the Office of the State Attorney. Should this position ever change in the future, I assure you that I will follow the correct procedures.
With regard to the above, kindly provide us as soon as possible with the names of all the parties who received copies of the unsigned and undated statements of Messrs P. Moynot and E. Mary that were provided to the Public Protector during the course of the Public Phase of the enquiry into the Strategic Defence Packages.
We advise further that we are still waiting for the original correspondence that you undertook to forward to our offices.

Kind regards

Marlene Abreu
